The OKM Delta Ranger knows where to find gold

The light version of the Delta Ranger

The Delta Ranger Light Edition is ideal for initial explorations into unknown terrain to find suitable places for successful treasure hunting. Treasure hunters, especially those who are new to the activity, will appreciate the ability to quickly scan large areas.

Long-range gold prospecting using a smartphone

With the Long Range (L) probe, the OKM Delta Ranger can be used as a long-range gold detector to find buried objects at distances of up to several miles. The exact position of gold objects can be determined using cross-bearing (triangulation). Since ionic and electron currents are long-range search modes, the probe is used in the horizontal direction.

Best long-range performance in the electronic current and ionic current

The electronic current mode allows searching for gold in wet places, on wet soil, and even after rainy days. This mode of operation does not require dry ground as is the case with many other long-range detectors. Moreover, the two long-range operating modes, electron current and ion current, achieve the best performance in sparsely populated areas. Because the embedded sensors are very sensitive to changes in ionic and electronic fields, accuracy increases dramatically in unoccupied or undeveloped areas.

Electronic current (bioenergy system)

During gold detection, the electronic current interacts with the detector user's natural bioenergy to analyze the subtlest changes in the body's materials. Gold prospectors and treasure hunters can locate almost all gold nuggets regardless of how long the target item has been buried. Therefore, it is especially recommended to use electronic current to search for newly buried objects such as gold jewelry, gold statues, gold rings, gold coins, and gold bullion.

Ionic current (ion chamber system)

The ion current operating mode measures the ion radiation of buried gold objects. Therefore, when measuring, direction is important for success. The built-in digital compass shows direction while measuring. This detection method is specialized in locating long-buried gold artifacts. The longer an object is underground, the better it can be detected by the ion current.

Gold Detection: Triple Reactions to the Target In long-range modes, the target is indicated by:
  • Audio feedback (if sound is enabled)
  • Vibration (if vibration is enabled)
  • Visual feedback (glowing crosshairs)
Treasure detection and verification by cross-bearing (triangulation): Triangulation uses two or more points to pinpoint the target's location. Once you get hits on the same target point from different locations, this location likely contains a potential target.

OKM Delta Ranger Professional Device: More Probes, More Treasures

With two additional probes, the Delta Ranger becomes a professional detector that not only allows for long-range gold detection but also conducts 3D ground scans and deep underground analyses.
  • Best depth performance with 3D ground scanning: Connecting the ground scanning probe (G) activates two operating modes that allow for vertical underground measurements: magnetometer and 3D ground scanning.
  • Magnetometer: The ready-to-use operating mode is recommended for preparing and clearing the scanning field of near-surface ferrous elements. This allows for the detection of buried objects deeper and with more accuracy in subsequent 3D ground scans.
  • 3D Ground Scanning: OKM is renowned for its 3D imaging detection technology developed and engineered in Germany. 3D ground scanning is the most effective operating mode for locating targeted objects at depths of up to 60 feet (18 meters) underground. After saving the measurement, treasure hunters can analyze the scanned image in detail, determining the position, size, and depth of discovered targets before excavation.

Detecting Secret Passages and Tunnels Using Thermal Imaging

Using the thermal probe (T) activates two additional operating modes that allow for both horizontal and vertical measurements: thermal scanning and thermal stream.

Thermal Scanning

With thermal scanning, large surfaces can be inspected for temperature differences. Similar to the 3D ground scanning operating mode, the surface is measured using the detector following a specific pattern. Thanks to the very short probe, the OKM Delta Ranger is ideal for measuring the horizontal surface of a wall, making temperature differences on walls visible and providing clues to hidden rooms and passages behind them. Additionally, the detector can also be used vertically (as in 3D ground scanning) to detect cavities, rooms, and tunnels underground.

Thermal Stream

The thermal stream operating mode uses the live camera image as a background and a false-color system to simplify the visualization of temperature differences. If correctly set using cross-calibration before measurement, it is possible to accurately determine the surface temperature of objects and surfaces at specific points. The surface temperature of the target object is indicated in three ways:
  1. As a simplified colored cloud on the camera image.
  2. By an indicator on the temperature scale.
  3. As a value in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit.

Detecting Voids and Caves Using Science

Thermal imaging typically uses well-known color associations from products used in everyday life, such as those found on a thermostat or faucet where blue is associated with coolness, while red is perceived as warm. In science, so-called false-color systems are preferred. False-color representation is used to surpass the natural color impression, making tonal nuances more distinct and easier to differentiate. The thermal stream and thermal scanning modes rely on this feature, using a false-color spectrum ranging from black (cold), through blue, purple, red, and yellow, to white (warm).
